Have you ever been frustrated to discover you couldn’t remember
something you read just the day before?
Have you ever thought you understood a new idea but then found it
difficult to put that idea into words?
Have you ever given up on trying to learn a new skill because when you
tried to apply it, the result was an abysmal failure?
If your answer to any of these is “yes”, you’re in the right place.
Learning is one of the most useful skills we have in today’s
forever-changing world. But even though you’ve probably spent the best
part of your life learning in one form or another, no one has ever
told you about effective learning techniques.
So that’s what today’s guest offers.
We are joined by the author of "4x4 LEARNING: The 4-step method to get
4-times more out of every book, talk or video you read, hear or watch
for the rest of your life", Ian Gibbs

The Future Of Workers with Michelle Weise
Thursday Jul 01, 2021
Thursday Jul 01, 2021
"In order to get a fair shot at the opportunities available, learners need resources and services that will help them tackle the barriers that have dogged them in the past and prevented them from acquiring the skills they need to get and keep a job that pays well. Wraparound supports are crucial in promoting persistence and completion of education and training programs. These supports include counselling, mental health services, financial advice, and even financial assistance for housing costs and transportation. Sometimes barriers to work are smaller than one would imagine—a participant might need new truck tires, steel-toed boots, or a set of knives for culinary school."
That’s an excerpt from Long Life Learning: Preparing for Jobs that Don't Even Exist Yet, Welcome to the Inside Learning podcast brought to you by The Learnovate Centre in Trinity College Dublin, I am your host Aidan McCullen and I’m delighted to say we are joined by the author of that book, Michelle Weise.
We are also joined on this episode by researcher with The Learnovate Centre, Richard Harte where we discuss relevant topics raised by Michelle.

How To Manage The Smart Machine Age with Edward D. Hess
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
We are on the leading edge of a Smart Machine Age led by artificial intelligence that will be as transformative for us as the Industrial Revolution was for our ancestors.
Smart machines will take over millions of jobs in manufacturing, office work, the service sector, the professions, you name it.
Not only can they know more data and analyze it faster than any mere human, but smart machines are free of the emotional, psychological, and cultural baggage that so often mars human thinking.
To stay relevant, we have to play a different game. Our guest offers us that game plan.
Our guest today is Professor of Business Administration, Batten Fellow and Batten Executive-in-Residence at the Darden Graduate School of Business and the author of Hyper-Learning: How to Adapt to the Speed of Change amidst a plethora of other titles, Ed Hess
